Before Sunrise Walking Tour

Our journey starts with the Vienna West Train station where Celine decides to join Jesse for one beautiful day in Vienna. Unfortunately, the station has undergone many renovations since the movie was filmed and looks quite different, but it is still the same location.

In search of something to do, the couple then approaches the Zollamt Steg, a beautiful green bridge that stretches over the canal. Situated above the Vienna River and a railway, the Zollamt bridge offers a beautiful view of the city.

Moving through the city by tram, Celine and Jesse begin to get to know each other. Enjoy the views and the bustle of local life through the Vienna tram!

Stumbling upon a record store, Jesse and Celine share an intimate moment listening to Kath Bloom’s “Come Here” together in a booth. This eclectic record store still exists today and is a must see in Vienna.

Serving as a memorial for unknown bodies that were found washed up on the Danube, Friedhof der Namenlosen was featured in Before Sunrise. As Celine and Jesse walk through the cemetery, Celine points out a tombstone that she had been partial to in the past. The tranquility and reflective nature of this cemetery would offer a peaceful break amidst a busy travel day.

Celine and Jesse walk Mariahilfer Straße, a bustling shopping street in the Laimgrube neighborhood, on their way to share their infamous Ferris Wheel kiss at Prater. Filled with bars, restaurants, and fair activities, Prater is packed with things to explore.

Stopping by a late night cafe, Celine and Jesse continue their philosophical conversations. With picturesque outdoor seating, Café Kleines is a wonderful place to stop by to people watch and soak in the beauty of Vienna.

While the beauty of Maria am Gestade is evident in the film, it does not compare to the experience in person. With large glass stained windows and high ceilings, this church is a necessary addition to your itinerary.

Now at Café Sperl, we watch the couple enact fake phone conversations with each other. Through brief clips of the other customers, the beauty of the cafe is evident. With patterned seating and warm lights, Cafe Sperl has an incredible ambience you just have to see for yourself.

Right on the steps of the Albertina Museum and at the bottom of the von Erzherzog Albrecht Statue are where the 2 most iconic shots from the film came from. Sat on top of the step railing and then migrating to the statue, Jesse and Celine talk until their magical night comes to an end and they part ways.
